I won’t disguise the fact that I’m writing on a Saturday night, when I usually prefer to create the illusion that I’m out doing something fabulous. I don’t respond to email either, especially to students, who should think I have more than just them in my life. I felt like a grad student while grading today, a warm, then cooling, then cold cup of tea, a stack of crackers and cheese, an erect chair and a hard desk.
What is your take on Valentine’s Day? Will you celebrate it?
no. i refuse. and i refuse to be with a girl who likes it.
Is that your public response?
is this yours?
Yes, I always forget to log in.
hey, have you seen crash? the 2005 one, not the one from the 90s with james spader. i was watching it tonight and had to turn it off. i can not believe that pile won best picture last year.
Yes, I’ve seen it. I liked it. You and Grandpa are in agreement about best picture though.
Grandpa is a smart man.
I just feel like Crash is way too obviously manipulative. I like my manipulation on the down-low.
I can see that. I think Brokeback was kind of Titanic-esque though as far as best picture. I watched it with Grandpa and wore red and black cowboy boots and cried (with noise) through almost the entire the film. My favorite part: when the scene changes to the new stepdad cutting turkey with an electric knife.
Valentines Day…
The Hallmark Holiday…
Is absolutely incredible…
Even for those of us who find ourselves all alone…
Wanting…
Needing…
But like Christmas, it’s not about the cause, it’s the effect that matters…
The pageantry of it all…
Christmas is about love & giving, in a friends & family kinda way…
Valentines Day is about love & giving, in a more romantic sense…
If Christmas hadn’t changed into what it’s become, and had Valentines Day not, essentially, been invented for marketing reasons, it would TOTALLY be neccessary to invent such times…
Times for loving, and times for *AHEM* loving… 😉
I love holidays…
Even if they do make me miserable… lol
loveme.
Oh, and Crash, as well as Brokeback Mountain, was a pile of shit…
Crash was FAR too fukken preachy…
I mean, it had all the subtlety of a sledgehammer…
However, I do absolutely fukken LOVE the James Spader movie…
(although the book is better/different)
Brokeback was just boring…
I mean, it had all the excitement & romance of a National Geographic special on mating practices…
loveme.
