Birth Doula & Birth Coaching:
I work as a full service doula on a very limited basis these days. Lately, most of my efforts have gone into scholarly research, publishing writing, and advocacy.
Though full service doula offerings are limited, I do offer a birth course and/or virtual birth coaching. You can also contact me here with questions you may have about the childbirth services: sherewin@gmail.com.
My Childbirth Philosophy:
My work is primarily aimed at advocacy and helping to support positive experiences through clear communication for people giving birth. In addition to the comfort techniques and approaches I learned through my DONA-approved doula training, my work is also influenced by my experience as a writer and yoga instructor, using breathing and yoga asanas for comfort, focus, and relaxation, and using writing for reflection and self-discovery.
Why Use a Childbirth Support?:
Extra childbirth support can be especially helpful for people who have a more specific vision for their birth experience, for people planning an unmedicated/low intervention birth, for planned epidurals and c-sections, and for people who may be experiencing VBAC, pregnancy after loss, or who feel extra intensity around the experience for any reason.
Pregnancy is sometimes a once in a lifetime experience. It is the best time to treat yourself to a doula, birth coach, or the reflective and preparatory education I offer through my courses. These are wellness experiences that can help you savor the experience, help you feel cared for, and help you better under stand what kind of care you prefer to receive throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
